Application:
Applications will be accepted for employment. At the time of application,

you must present a valid Driver’s License and Social Security Card.   

You will have 30 days from the date of application to provide any additional information need.


Aptitude exam:
Upon satisfying all prerequisites, you will be scheduled for an aptitude test.  You will receive a letter specifying the time and date of the exam. 

This test will include sections on reading comprehension and mathematics.  With a qualifying score on the aptitude test,

you will then qualify for an oral interview.   
 

Interview:
You will receive a letter specifying a time and date for an interview. All interviewees are then ranked with all other applicants.      


Selection:
Applicants can stay on the ranking list for a maximum of two years.  We hire, in order, off the list.  Each class generally consists of 8 to 20 apprentices.

However, new hires could start working anytime during the year.  The selection process may take several months, so I urge you to be patient.

Understanding Requirements

NOTICE TO EVERYONE APPLYING FOR THE APPRENTICESHIP

To complete your application and qualify for further evaluation by the Miami Joint Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Committee, please provide the following information.

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age prior to indenturing as an apprentice.

  1. High School Diploma (translated and notarized if it is from outside of the USA)

  1. Must be a high school graduate or have achieved a GED and have at least one (1) full credit with a grade of “C” or better in Algebra I or a higher math course.

  1. Must submit official high school transcripts. (translated and notarized if it is from outside of the USA)

  1. If your high school transcripts do not document at least one (1) full credit of algebra with a passing score, you must submit transcripts from the school where you did complete an algebra course.

  1. If you did not take or pass algebra, you must enroll in Electrical Training Alliance online Tech Math Course and provide documentation upon successfully completing the algebra course.

  1. Two (2) photos of yourself that we keep (e.g., passport photos from Walgreens or Polaroid pictures)

  1. Original or Certified Birth Certificate (translated and notarized if it is from outside of the USA)

  1. Updated Resume

  1. Driver’s License

  1. Social Security Card

  1. Appropriate INS Work Authorization (if applicable) such as work permit or green card.

  1. Copy of DD214 (Military Discharge Papers) if applicable.

  1. Own transportation

APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY APRIL 30 OF EACH YEAR. Apprentices learn cutting-edge skills in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility and get paid to do it. The IBEW Local 349 apprenticeship program is one of the best in Florida, and you will be in high demand for employment if you are accepted. If you have few to no skills but want a hands-on career that also lets you can use your mind, consider becoming an apprentice.
